A) Subject Aims

  1. To develop an ever-improving capability to use English as a medium to think and communicate by strengthening their interpersonal skills, knowledge of the subject and experience of other cultures.
  2. To provide an authentic context for learners to acquire, develop and apply knowledge as well as to response and give expression to experience.
  3. To develop and apply an understanding of how language is formed and used.

Features of School-based Curriculum

Textbook is implemented from P.1 to P.6. Various cooperative learning strategies are used in different class levels. Communicative and co-operative approach is adopted through group discussion, presentations and group writing so as to develop their language and generic skills.

Shared Reading Approach


Other than textbooks, fiction and non-fiction books are used in enriching the KS1 curriculum. Pupils can learn different vocabulary items, sentence structures and daily conversations through reading and activities.

NET Scheme

P.1 – P.3 two NET lessons per week (Phonics teaching is implemented.) 
P.4 - P.6 one NET lesson per week
Ms Binnie and Miss Ashley are our NETs.

 

English literature is introduced in our lessons. Pupils discover different language features through fiction and non-fiction texts. Various learning activities such as matching games, crossword puzzle, readers’ theatre and role play are included in the lessons.
